Tom Reid

Tom Reid graduated from Oberlin in 1980 and never (really) left. He now teaches Bowling, leads the Keglers, and runs the Cat and College Lanes.

Has a distinctive, story-telling, sorta-stream-of-consciousness way of speaking to a class.

Personal Life

Tom is a big fan of bluegrass. Over the years has developed a love for semi-improv - he's appeared in several shows. He once cameo'd in a Piscapo's Arm show and decided it was in character to strip down to his boxer shorts on stage.

Of course, he's a great bowler, too — Tom has by far the most high scores listed on the walls of the Lanes.

Tom is married to a fellow Obie and has two kids.

"Uh, what's the past tense of squeeze? You squoze the bread."

"I told you that to tell you this..."

"I'm a little weird, as you might have noticed..."

(During a bowling exercise)
Reid: "So do anything you can to distract them, short of actually touching them."
Student: "So no tripping?"
Reid: "Well, if he's already dosed, there's not much we can do..."

Tom Reid is one of my two favorite professors. His lectures are hilarious. Bowling 1 and 2 were the most fun two credits I got at Oberlin. —alxndr 20:10, 4 October 2007 (EDT)

Tom is a wonderful man and an incredible coach. I feel truly honored to have had the opportunity to work with him when I was a student at Oberlin. -Justin H, '04 — (20:38, 12 September 2008EDT)
