Rax

Fast food with style.

The Rax of Oberlin has been closed. The property was bought by Sustainable Community Associates for newer and greater things. The building was slated for demolition for a long time (at least two years) and has now made way for the (future) construction of the East College Street Project.

If you still long for style with your fast food, and a perpetual salad bar thing, there are other Raxen; however, the closest location is in Bellefontaine, which is approximately 3 hours away.

There was a really nice middle-aged dark-haired lady who had worked at Rax for a long time. She smiled lots and watched you intently while you ordered, subtly encouraging you. She made it a pleasure to order food (whether or not it was a pleasure to actually eat the food).

The ex-Rax store front is where the LCT stops, so there are frequently people hanging out there waiting for a bus. Around break times there can be hordes of students waiting for busses.

Both sides of the old Rax sign are currently in the possession of students. One decorates a kitchen, while the other takes up an entire wall of a dorm room.
