A professor of Viola, Karen Ritscher has performed in the Houston Symphony, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, as Assistant Principal with the American Composers Orchestra and as Principal Violist with the Dallas Opera and Houston Grand Opera.
She has been a member of the Azure Ensemble, Mercury Baroque Ensemble, Greenbriar Chamber Players, and the Aureus Piano Quartet, and has premiered works by various composers including Chen Yi. She has previously taught with the Aspen Music Festival, Rice University, Mannes College of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music.
