David Boe is a professor of organ and a member of the Historical Performance faculty. Boe is well-loved by all his students and is agreed by virtually all to be a genius at registration, as well as most other aspects of organ playing. Boe has been teaching at Oberlin for over forty years now, since 1962.

David Boe was the Dean of the Conservatory from 1975 to 1990.

In honor of Boe's birthday on March 11, 2005, organist Daniel Roth performed an improvisation on "Happy Birthday" after a masterclass in Finney.

Boe taught James David Christie, the other Oberlin organ professor, during Christie's undergraduate years.
