Claudia MacDonald

macdonald_claudia.jpg

A professor of musicology, Claudia MacDonald specializes in women in music and 19th and 20th century music. A thin, grey, often harried woman of indeterminate age, Claudia has the distressing habit of not seeming to recognize her students and advisees when they appear in unexpected places. Despite her brusque demeanor and (often) strange behavior, she has a heart of gold and will fight hard for the students she cares about. She can often be spotted scooting through Tapan Square on her way to and from the Con.

Also, her contemporary music class is taught with a complete love of the subject matter. She also has an expressed interest in theremin.

  • B.A. with honors, Brown University, 1979
  • M.A. University of Chicago, 1981
  • Ph.D. University of Chicago, 1986
